Washington D.C.-based online marketing firm Gratis Internet announced it launched three new Internet properties, giving away free Apple, HP, Toshiba, Gateway and Sony laptop computers, free Sony PlayStation 3 gaming consoles (on pre-order) and free $300 gift cards redeemable at leading national retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Blockbuster, Loews Cinema, Bath & Body Works, Foot Locker, The Sharper Image and Petco -- all completely free of charge, including free shipping. The three new Gratis sites -- each of which can easily be found through FreePay's home page, http://www.freepay.com -- join 12 other FreePay sites the company operates, including the massively popular freeiPods.com, on which Gratis has given away more than 22,000 free Apple iPods, iPod Shuffles and iPod Photos since launching the site in June 2004.
Via its FreePay sites, Gratis hosts product and service offers from a range of leading national advertisers, including Citibank, Blockbuster, Columbia House and BMG, among many others. When a visitor to a FreePay site signs up for a trial offer from an advertiser, Gratis is paid by that advertiser for delivering a customer lead. Using those revenues, Gratis pays for the items it gives away. In turn, advertisers receive a steady stream of quality new customers in exchange for sponsoring the process and paying for referrals.
Reflecting the success of its operational model and the level of trust Gratis has earned from consumers, the company was recently named the eighteenth fastest growing privately held company in the U.S. in Inc. Magazine's prestigious 2005 Inc. 500 ranking. "The FreePay system is simple, straightforward and user friendly -- that's why it's so successful with consumers," Gratis internet co-founder Peter Martin said. "You visit one of our sites, try one online offer and refer a set of friends, each of whom tries one online offer. After that, we send you your free item -- completely free of charge, including free postage."
"Free laptops is a site that our power users have been clamoring for," Gratis co-founder Rob Jewell said. "They've been telling us they want access to free laptops, and that they're willing to try an online offer and refer friends who do the same, to get one. We think it's going to be an extremely popular site." "We also think our PS3 pre-order site is going to be massively popular," Jewell said. "If you look at what's happened with Xbox 360, it shows how essential getting a pre-order is. Add to the mix that the item will be free and it's a pretty compelling combination." Finally, the new FreePay gift card site marks a new approach for Gratis.
"Typically, we're focused on giving away specific items, such as iPods, flat screens or PCs," Martin said. "With our new free gift card site, we thought it would be great to, effectively, give our customers cash, in the form of a gift card, and let them spend it where and how they want. To do that, we've partnered with some of the nation's leading retailers. We're expecting great things."
